Sleeve for Shapely Tee by Joan McGowan-Michael
The short sleeve instructions here will turn my Shapely Tank into a Shapely Tee.
Sleeves will require an additional 250-300 yards of yarn for all sizes.
Follow the tank instructions for your desired size, omitting sleeve bands.
Width of sleeve at underarm:
131/2 (131/2, 14, 14, 15, 15, 16, 171/2, 181/2)"
Sleeves- With same needle size used for tank, cast on 61 (61, 65, 65, 70, 70, 75, 75, 80) sts and work in garter st (knit every row) for 6 rows. Switch to stockinette and increase 1 st at each end of needle every 6th row 3 (3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 6, 6) times. -67 (67, 71, 71, 76, 76, 81, 87, 92) sts. Work evenly until sleeve measures 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8)" or desired length to underarm.
Cap shaping- Bind off 5 (5, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13) sts at beginning of next 2 rows, then 3 (4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13) sts at beg of following 2 rows. -51 ( 49, 47, 47, 50, 46, 47, 37, 34) sts.
Dec 1 st at each end of every other row 17 (16, 16, 16, 17, 15, 15, 15, 15) times.
Bind off remaining 17 (17, 15, 15, 16, 16, 17, 15, 14) sts.
Finishing-
Sew underarm seams and pin sleeve into armhole, easing to fit. Sew in sleeve. Steam press entire garment lightly.
