This one is entitled "Feminine Fit" and is all about getting the upper body of your sweaters to fit like they were custom made for you.

  Joan approaches this from the angle of knitters who hate to do math and so demonstrates a technique in which alterations are done visually and math is kept to a bare minimum.

The summer issue of Vogue Knitting has a lovely lacy warm-weather top design and pattern.

Joan also has a beautiful dress design featured in the Spring/Summer issue of of Creative Knitting Magazine. It mixes a knitted bodice with a fabric skirt which makes a little knitting go a long way.

It's Fall and time to start planning your sweater projects for the cool weather. But first things first! Have you ever spent the time and money to knit yourself a sweater and gone to try it on only to find that for some reason or other the fit was simply was not right?

Joan's Whip Your Knits into Shape workshop will guarantee that this will never happen again. You will come away from this class with a complete set of your own measurements and a customized paper pattern made from those measurements. This 6-hour workshop will give you the tools, information and confidence to successfully tweak any knitting pattern to fit or to design your own from scratch.

Joan will be in Portland, Oregon on September 16th for a book signing party for the new publication My Grandmother's Knitting by Larissa Brown. Joan contributed a vintage-inspired design and a story about her own mother and they way she and her sisters remained fashionistas during the rationing of WW2.

There will be food, wine and karaoke in addition to lots of yarny fiber fun! The event takes place at Andersen Fiber Works on Friday, September 16th from 6:30 to 10:30 pm.

Then on Saturday September 17th, join Joan for a full day of classes hosted by Pico/Accuardi Dyeworks !  Learn how to fit your own body perfectly with Whip Your Knits into Shape, then apply some of those techniques AND get started on a pretty lace tee shirt in Konquering Krista . Easing into Fall will be a pleasure with our two romantic new jacket styles and a luxurious new yarn!

The Emma Cardigan is a gorgeous vintage-inspired cardigan with a generous lace collar and a drawstring back for adjusting the fit. Knit her up in our new Cascade Pastaza, a toothsome blend of Llama and wool.

We have two lovely new styles to show you! First is our pretty new Tee pattern, Stephanie. Her edges are a lovely dimensional lace pattern, fun to knit and even more fun to wear!

And looking ahead to fall is the Gabrielle Vest. The neckline hugs the back of your neck like a scarf; ideal for underneath a jacket or coat.

In case you missed our March workshop in Sacramento below, we'll be doing another on April 16th!

This time it's all about lace in our Lace Knitting Workshop. This is an expanded version of our Konquering Krista class. By the time we're finished, students will be able to read and execute a lace chart AND will have learned how to tweak and fit the Krista Tee to their very own bodies.

The workshop is from 10 am to 3 pm, and lunch will be served.

Well, we've survived the New Year and all the cold weather, so we're looking forward to Spring!

With those early Spring days comes the problem of leaving the house wearing warm clothes, only to be too warm by the afternoon. Our new Adrienne Cardigan knit in 80% cotton/20% wool blend solves that problem beautifully.

Just for fun, we've added a new item to our lingerie section. The Kimber Bustier and Panty make a lovely addition to your lingerie drawer or a special surprise for a lucky gift recipient.

Having had much favorable feedback in regard to our lovely,Springy Zelda pullover, we decided to re-design her for the Fall and Winter seasons as well. Enter the Clarissa Cardigan!   The button front and long sleeves are a more office-friendly option, but the curvy stitchery and sassy puffed shoulder beg to be taken out after work!

Keep an eye out for the Winter issue of Twist Collective. Joan will have a pattern for a scrumptious new cardigan published there in mid-November that you will not want to miss!

We are pleased to introduce  designer Marleen van der Vorst! She is from The Netherlands and designs some of the loveliest shawls we've seen. Have a look at her Lilacs in Spring stole for something wonderful to knit for holiday gift giving or better yet, to keep for yourself!

We’ll be at the Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival  (OFFF for those in the know) September 25th and 26th, with our booth outside on the lawn.

If you’ve never been to this show and are in or around Canby, Oregon on this weekend, do try to stop by as it’s a fun show with all kinds of animals to see, a great variety of foods to try and of course, fibery goodness of all types to browse and collect.

 Workshops take place the 24th through the 26th, and I will be teaching Beading for Knits and Crochet for Knitters on Friday the 24th.  Both are worthwhile classes if you’d like to explore adding depth to your knitting with some new techniques.

We've been working hard on some new designs for Spring and they're here for you to enjoy now! Carmella is a lovely tunic-length cardigan that flatters with it's princess-line lace inserts and flounced 3/4 length sleeves. Knit in our new Cascade Ultra-Pima cotton, it's elegant shape is rivaled only by it's cool comfort.

Olivia is a pretty empire-waisted tee that goes anywhere on pretty much any-body. Flattering to a multitude of body shapes, the sweetheart neckline and fluttery sleeves promise a beautiful way to beat Summer's heat.
